Hiring Tax Manager (or Senior Tax Accountant)

About the role

A growing, relationship-driven public accounting firm in the East Valley is hiring a Tax Manager (or a technically strong Senior ready for a step up). You’ll report directly to the Managing Partner and immediately relieve capacity constraints by owning technical reviews, answering client tax questions, and managing a designated slice of the client book—predominantly small business owners and their related filings.

This firm is a tech-savvy, remote work friendly modern firm looking for great attitudes to enhance their healthy culture.  If you’re looking for high-impact work, clear autonomy, and a healthier quality of life than big-firm busy seasons, this is a strong fit.

What you’ll do

●     Technical review of individual, S-corp, and partnership returns (small-business centric; complexity is moderate).

●     Front-line technical support for client questions (email/phone)—triage, research, and clear responses.

●     Client management for an assigned book: cadence, expectations, and timely follow-ups.

●     Tax planning: help formalize tiered planning packages and deliver planning where appropriate.

●     IRS representation light: POAs, notice responses, and routine resolution tasks.

●     Workflow collaboration with admins, U.S. contractors, and established offshore team (light coaching/feedback; minimal “from-scratch” training).

●     Process improvement across intake, review notes, and handoffs to increase responsiveness and scale.

What you’ll bring

●     Credentials: EA required at minimum; CPA preferred.

●     Experience: 4–8+ years in public accounting with heavy small-business exposure (S-corps, partnerships, owner 1040s).

●     Reviewer’s mindset: confident technical judgment, clean review notes, and ownership of outcomes.

●     Client EQ: calm triage of a busy inbox, clear explanations to non-tax folks, dependable follow-through.

●     Bias to action: comfort stepping into imperfect processes and improving them.

Nice to have

●     Prior experience building or delivering tax planning programs/packages.

●     Comfort handling IRS notices/POAs at volume.

Exposure to light CAS/compilations environments and collaborating with offshore teams.
